Canada does not have a capital shortage…

It has an early-stage ecosystem shortfall.

The Canadian Startup Capital Association exists to strengthen Canada’s early-stage capital ecosystem by helping more people become better investors and by scaling the programs that are already working. The story is not about building something from scratch in isolation; it is about connecting, supporting, and amplifying the grassroots organizations and active investors already moving capital into Canadian startups.

One Mission; Three Priorities

Canada has the capital, the founders, and the ambition. What it needs now is activation. The CSCA exists to turn passive wealth into early-stage investment, build the infrastructure that connects capital to ideas, and shape the systems that determine where that capital flows. The following three pillars define how we get there.

1. Activate & Grow

We are building the next generation of capital allocators by connecting founders and investors when it matters most.

Canada has the capital, but we need to activate and develop new investors into long-term capital allocators in a way that makes sense to them.
  • Turn passive wealth into active early-stage investment
  • Support first-time angels, family offices, and emerging fund managers
  • Build repeat investors, not one-time participants
  • Scale proven models nationally across regions and communities

2. Build the Infrastructure

Strong ecosystems don’t happen by chance, they’re built on infrastructure, data, and connections.

The gap in Canada doesn’t exist for ideas or capital. It exists in the systems that connect them.
  • Create national investment networks and deal flow infrastructure
  • Build data and intelligence at the pre-seed and angel stage
  • Improve commercialization pathways
  • Establish shared platforms, relationships, and ecosystem visibility

3. Shape the System

Different outcomes require a different system design. Doing things differently and addressing the unique challenges of a new generation of investors will lead to success.

Ensure capital flows at the earliest stages by shaping policy, funding, and national priorities.
  • Direct funding to early-stage capital activation and infrastructure
  • Advocate for tax policies that accelerate investment
  • Fix commercialization and IP frameworks
